Dried Nigella pods
Dried Nigella pods
Nigella or Love In A Mist is another tried and true dried flower- or in this case; seed pod. Starting as a delicate, often blue or white spider-like flower, it quickly drops its petals to make way for the unusual seed pod to develop. Stems are often branching with multiple sized pods on each. Grown by us without the use of any chemicals or sprays, harvested, processed and lovingly & slowly dried ensuring their true beauty can be appreciated. *More colours coming late spring
Pop straight into your favourite vase, vessel or thrifted bottle, hang on a hook, use in your own floral arrangements, craft projects or for children’s resources. Your options are endless.
Unlike lots of dried and “everlasting” flowers and foliages available, we don’t use any dyes, bleach, toxic chemicals or preservatives, ever.
Bunches typically consist of 10 stems, give or take depending on stem size/number of side branching stems. Minimum 30cm total length. Flowers are wrapped for you in Kraft and/or tissue and tied with natural jute twine. Think flower market, baby! Compost or green bin it all, we never use plastic packaging.
Naturally, like fresh blooms, no two stems will be the same. Colour/shade will vary as will size and shape. You may find that occasionally a stem may droop, never fear, just hang the bunch or individual stems upside down out of direct sunlight and they will firm up again. There is also nothing wrong with appreciating things as they change within our environment. will vary as will size and shape. Shedding may occur in high traffic areas if they’re bumped/moved/a little more than light breeze, this is totally normal as most flowers and foliage do become brittle when dried. Colours and quality are best preserved out of direct light and away from heat sources and moisture, please keep this in mind when you’re displaying your goodies. Naturally dust will collect over time, you can give them a gentle shake or blast with a hairdryer on low to remove any debris. Lastly, many promote dried flowers and foliage as “everlasting” and therefore imply that they will indeed last a life time. Like they say, “all good things must come to an end”; realistically you can expect a few years of your pieces in their best condition. Some things last much, much longer - like Billy buttons which will keep their colour and shape almost indefinitely, where as flowers with thinner petals, for example will inevitably fade. Love and display dried flowers and foliage like you would any other styling piece, times, taste and trends change which brings the opportunity to invest in new pieces to add to your space.
*Please note, even though everything we grow is free of chemicals etc, do not let children or pets consume any part of the flowers/foliage. Some plants are toxic to humans and animals. We also recommend being mindful of your hands, skin and senses with handling any flowers/foliage as some people may have reactions or sensitivities.
